In July 2018, the Learning, Equipment and Facilities Enhancement Plan for BFA (Hons) Cinematic Design and Photographic Digital Art was submitted to the University, it aimed to further strengthen the teaching and learning experience of the students in the area BFA (Hons) in of Cinematic Design and Photographic Digital Art. The budget proposed consists of three main enhancement measures as shown:
- Learning Enhancement: Specific/Professional Skill Training Workshops
- Equipment Enhancement: Cinematic and Photographic Equipment Upgrade
- Facilities Enhancement: Screening and Sound Mixing Theatre Setup
Because of the rapid development of digital imaging technology and after the Programme Revalidation completed in Nov 2019, the programme BFA (Hons) Cinematic Design and Photographic Digital Art has been reviewed and revalidated and restructured to BFA (Hons) in Imaging Design and Digital Art. The newly restructured programme will provide students with a broad understanding and training in imaging design through in-depth knowledge in various areas of digital art. It also equips students with solid skills in imaging and photographic design and a critical approach to evaluating different visual forms as a means to artistic expression under the context of contemporary culture.
In this connection, the budget and the relevant resources allocated for the programme BFA (Hons) Cinematic Design and Photographic Digital Art proposed in the original plan are no longer applicable to align with the new programme and its purpose, the programme proposed to vire the budget to reflect the corresponding changes. A re-allocation of budgets between the Equipment Enhancement & Facilities Enhancement has been proposed.
With the new plan, $1,000,000 had been allocated for the Specific/ Professional Skill Training Workshops. $920,000 had been allocated for Equipment Enhancement: Imaging Design and Digital Art Equipment Upgrade, while $6,500,000 had been allocated for Facilities Enhancement: Digital Art Lab Setup.
